Day 10- Connecting and Resting…A Nice Sunday

Today we started out by eating breakfast at Tim’s house and we got ready for Church. We went to Church at a new Church plant that meets in an art studio. It ended up being just Tim, his wife, their daughter, one of their sons, one of his friends, and me at the service. The church is made up mainly of young people and most of them were off at a youth camp. It was their last day at the youth camp, so hopefully they will be around more starting today. We did not let the lack of numbers stop us from having church though. After waiting a little bit to see if anyone else would show up, we entered into a time of prayer. After we prayed for a little bit, Tim shared the message that he had planned for the day with us. He spoke about the healing of the two blind men as recorded in the Gospel according to Matthew. Tim shared that many times the blind are mistreated and there are no one to help them. He spoke about how we live in a society that if we see a blind person we often look the other way and not enough people reach out a hand to help them. He was speaking about the physical blind, but he then moved on to speak about the spiritual blind. We ought to be more like Jesus and have compassion for the blind and reach out to them. It was a great message from God spoken through Tim.
After the church service we went to pick up lunch at a Sunday tradition for Tim’s family: McDonald’s. They laughed when they told me that is what they like to eat on Sunday’s, but I told them it was fine with me. I got some pictures of it down below. The rest of the day we mainly rested around the house. I caught up on my blog finally figuring out what I was doing wrong with uploading pictures and Tim did laundry. I think most of us took Sunday afternoon naps and just had a day of rest. It was nice because last week was non-stop. Anyway, here are some pictures from the day. Not many, but they are from the area around where we went to church.

As you can see more and more high rises.

Where I am staying this week (well the one on the left at least)

Thought or lesson of the day:
I spoke with Tim and his wife Donna about going back and forth to America. They are going back over for a year in a year. It was interesting to hear what their children thought about living here and traveling back to the States. Tim and I also talked about watching American television over here via sat. I am beginning to learn what it is like to have your family on the mission field in an area and culture very far from your home. It is interesting and I hope to learn many more things in this department.

With Great Joy I write,
Ben
